You give me such longings for a garden. I almost do, just the fence to stop the dog pack from demolishing it in seconds flat. But it looks so lonely empty of plant life, just waiting. You look like you have done a good and loving job with yours. I had to look up Pride of Barbados, then realized it is what I see here on rare occasion in the darker orange. I always wondered the name. Perhaps they start from seed.

Zatikia,
If you click on the picture of the Pride of Barbados you can see the seed pods hanging from the older flower stems. I have many of these pods and could send you some if you like. They are such a delight and attract the only red hummingbird I have ever seen.

Just stay away from bouganvilla. Yeah pretty for sure, but mean as hell. I swear the sonsabitches see me coming and immediately go into attack stance. Kinda remindful in style to the World Bank and International Monitary Fund. "Come here little nation and look closely, aren't I pretty?", and they leave loaded with scars.

Here I am, trying to cool my political heels for a while and you come along and make a political metaphor out of flowers. And the sun, what side is it on?
I know, I know … depends on the time of day.

I clicked and made the photos larger and saw the beans, and your very nice and conservative place. I like your raised gardens, I want to try that. I spent near two years on a farm in Oklahoma once and still dream of getting those gardens back.

I am starting another back yard next year and I would love to have the Pride of Barbados seed pods, thank you very much. Maybe I will get red hummingbirds too.

Mullats, You know what I think of bananas, just extrapolate that to peppers¿?¿

Yeah, Lisa, they're doing fairly well for refugees born in a compost pile.

A perfect way to begin life.

The cats totally own the place! Todd, I'm glad they let you stick around and tend the gardens :)

Thanks for the views of the summer survivors. It makes me doubly eager for the impending fall garden.

the cats are the rulers under the flag, contributed by their own Betsy Ross, hanging from the shed. Thank you Ellica.
