ANOTHER SEPARATION

Hundreds of folks
Waiting for the green.
The pedestrians are choking
On car fumes quite unseen.
It’s a secondary smoking spout
Drivers [{(for themselves)}] shut out
When they roll up the glass
And slide on the air
Thus passing more gas
At double their share.

It’s just another separation
Of man from where he lives
As the artifice of culture
Cloaks the answer to, “What gives?”
The arrogance of ignorance
Makes of superficiality this wall
Wherein man becomes his deity
And without becomes his fall.
While our and all of nature
Seems an enemy to enslave
Making of our life boat
A planetary grave.

How can we harm this life
On which we so depend,
Without dying with it?
It is mankind we spend.
