The Subject Tonight is Love

The subject tonight is Love

And for tomorrow night as well,

As a matter of fact

I know of no better topic

For us to discuss

Until we all

Die!

love...takes you to the heights of overwhelming bliss and to the depths
of the deepest despair...that is a double edged gift ...

The great dynamic of taking pride in being loved versus the shame of not being loved and the blame for loving another on the condition of its return, stretching each other towards infinity and our heartstrings along with it.

Gratitude for just being able to feel love for others so deeply may engender enough appreciation for the fountain oneself is to realize that being loved need never be a required payment overdue — it's always gratuitous gravy, never the gift given if expected.

There is no supply of love that can satisfy demand coming from a hole in the heartbucket that only the bucket itself may mend for good.

Many snapped heartstrings learning that one.

Ahh Love...I love the subject of love....
Which is more important? To be loved or to give love?
This is my theory..........
There is no greater gift than when you give love. Even if outwardly rejected, you must know you gave the best part of what we as humans can give. The love you give becomes a permanent part of the one you gave the gift to. Maybe not in some profound way but in a way it made a difference for them, in that moment, filling an empty spot. The one receiving the gift doesn't even have to know who it was from and their world will still become more at peace. The more love you give, the more love grows inside of you to the point it overflows. Unconditional love overflowing....imagine it....this world has been in short supply far too long don't you think? Unconditional...what does it mean? To me it is loving without expecting one thing for yourself in return and being perfectly content with the outcome. It becomes a wonderful thing to discover how many ways you can secretly give the gift of love to people whether you know them or not. One act of kindness at a time...Try it.....you love it.

Can love be a gift from one who cannot contain it, and wouldn't if they could? Any metaphor for love that makes of it an object entirely misses its sublime essence, like charging a toll for the tao.

Lilwave, would you please upload a picture of yourself to your profile. I'd love to see your face in the place and feel sure my commenting friends would enjoy knowing better someone else I love too.

Why would you ever need to contain or try to control love as long as it is being given without selfish terms?
And yes Pop, I'll try to get a picture downloaded fur ya...

"Can love be a gift from one who cannot contain it, and wouldn't if they could? Any metaphor for love that makes of it an object entirely misses its sublime essence, like charging a toll for the tao."

Let me try to answer that better than I did before.

Yes it is a gift because we have a choice whether to give it or keep it for ourselves.
The world is full of self love with plenty of selfishness in the mix. It's natural to try to control the things that we love so that our emotion doesn't lessen. But in doing so, yes it does become an object.
Am I making love an object? I would hope not but yes, I guess sometimes I do. I don't think anyone would be completely honest if they said they never had. We are human right?
Each day I try to take it to a deeper, less controlled, and unconditonal place.
As I've explained before, I think love is not only an emotion you feel. Love is something you choose to do when you step outside of your emotions and your own comfort zone to make it grow to a place where unconditional exists....
Unconditional is loving someone or something even when you don't feel it but at the same time you know you have it within you to still give love. That is the gift. A free gift you give without expecting a certain outcome or reward. No toll to be paid.........
