It is one of the most powerful realizations our planetary health examination has revealed.Yodoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09244765916380830711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29705116.post-71775538751961869682007-12-15T13:59:00.000-06:002007-12-15T13:59:00.000-06:00It's become a bit like a dog with its head up its ...It's become a bit like a dog with its head up its own butt.

I was at a meeting the other day where botanists were warbling on about the local biodiversity crisis. I pointed out that until recently the concept had never existed (and was just a concept invented by said botanists) and the world had got along just fine without it. You'd have thought I was the biggest idiot on the planet. It never ceases to amaze me how people will dream up "schemes" to suit their own ends - and they willingly, in this instance, in the form of a particular rabid botanist, say the death of the individual is nothing, all that counts is the species... Pity the poor individual on the brink of evolving into something else.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04871239587214383387noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29705116.post-65236453484841554472007-12-15T03:50:00.000-06:002007-12-15T03:50:00.000-06:00It's a testament to the true face of human nature:...It's a testament to the true face of human nature: something that sci-fi writers often use as a plot line, viz mankind coming together to defeat one common enemy/catastrophe...
and what happens in reality? Politicians come together to argue about the best rules we should apply, and who should be paying who in order to make it fair.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaGarthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15637097897454660933noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29705116.post-17960210133991149312007-12-14T11:29:00.000-06:002007-12-14T11:29:00.000-06:00Absolullah,I couldn't agree more.Naomi Klein calls...Absolullah,
I couldn't agree more.

Naomi Klein calls it the shock doctrine, I call it stragedy. From developers swooping into coastal weather disaster areas to stake out land for high rises where family homes once stood to the traditionally honored world wide charity, Red Cross, found to misappropriate a major portion of the hundreds of millions of dollars in relief donations after 9/11 it is obvious that the power of money hardens the heart before slamming the sphincter shut, opening the maw and start bulldozing the loot in.

Just as the stability of nature is in its variety, the stability of the human race lies in smaller, more local responsibility within interacting tribes rather than reliance of 300,000,000 on the sanity of one man as we find the US today.Yodoodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09244765916380830711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29705116.post-50067514305716206152007-12-14T11:00:00.000-06:002007-12-14T11:00:00.000-06:00You know one of the things I find so scary about g...You know one of the things I find so scary about global warming... aside from global warming itself and what we are doing to ourselves and the planet - but it's how global warming in itself has become big business. If there is an opportunity to milk, there will be some greedy bastard waiting right there to milk it. The world seems to abound with despots and greed merchants ready to feed off their own.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04871239587214383387noreply@blogger.com
